PROJECTS

Organized by the ‘Georgian Association For Equality’ (GAFE), an intensive field training course called ‘Equality School’ was conducted in Daba Bakuriani. The project aimed at preparing young leaders, equipping and strengthening them with new skills and competencies for achieving gender equality within the university space. Forty students received in-depth information about gender equality, developed leadership skills, and were introduced to gender-related research and statistical data. The participants underwent various trainings, for example, on topics like 'Gender Equality - Current Reality', 'Stereotypes and Their Impact on the Individual', and 'Effective Communication'. The sessions were led by invited trainers: Thea Bulia, Tata Beria, and Nino Gogokhia. Successful participants joined the team of the ‘Georgian Association For Equality’ and became involved in the activities of university ‘Equality Clubs’.

"INEQUALITY IN EVERYDAY LIFE"

2022, MAY 1 - JUNE 10

The exhibition/forum 'Inequality' was held on June 10th at the Tbilisi State University Museum. Presented at the event were works by students who participated in GAFE's photo/video contest 'Inequality in Everyday Life'.

In the photo-video contest 'Inequality in Everyday Life', students from all levels at universities across Georgia participated. The contest involved participants expressing through photos and videos the gender inequality and discriminatory attitudes towards minorities encountered in daily life. The submitted material was uploaded on GAFE’s Facebook page, where for a week, the contestants had the opportunity to gather 'likes'. The winners in first, second, and third places were determined based on the received feedback (likes) and were publicly awarded certificates and prize grants by GAFE on June 10th during an organized event.

The exhibition/forum on June 10th was also attended by representatives of the project E-PSY and invited psychologists. They held a panel discussion addressing the mental health challenges faced by young people and the importance and relevance of opening psychological support centers for students at higher educational institutions.

Organized by the Georgian Association For Equality, on May 8, 2022, members of GAFE participated in a one-day social tour as part of their activities. The tour included visits to Ananuri Fortress, Shio Mgvime Monastery, and Samtavro Monastery. This recreational activity was aimed at team building, fostering mutual respect and relationships among members, and facilitating the process of generating ideas.

Equality School Stage 3

1 September 12-17, 2022

An intensive training course was held from September 5 to 10, 2022, in a field format at Daba Bakuriani. The project aimed to strengthen young leaders, provide them with intensive preparation, equip them with new skills, and prepare students for membership in the association. 30 undergraduate students from accredited universities in Tbilisi, interested in equality, human rights, and inclusivity issues, were selected for the project. International and local experts led a course covering various topics, including fundamental human rights and freedoms, gender equality - current reality, stereotypes and their challenges, workplace discrimination, effective communication, self-presentation, and teamwork, leadership, and more. Part of the sessions was dedicated to discussing issues related to discrimination prevention and addressing problems in labor relations. Over five days, participants presented project proposals and recommendations. The training was led by speakers: Natia Gvelesiani, Lika Jalagania, and Tako Tsatskrialashvili. At the end of the training, each participant received a certificate confirming the completion of the course.

The campaign was implemented within the framework of #AllForYouth and gives young people an opportunity to get to know the working dynamics of the organizations they want to work for. For this purpose, together with the representatives of the equality clubs, we visited the Tbilisi City Council and the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, where the young people got to know the work dynamics on the ground together with the employees of the organizations.
