Discrimination is the act of treating essentially unequal persons equally or essentially equal persons under unequal treatment. All people are equal before the law. Any kind of discrimination is prohibited in Georgia.

Direct discrimination - is such treatment or creation of conditions that puts a person in a disadvantageous position when enjoying the rights established by the legislation of Georgia compared to other persons in similar conditions or puts persons in an equal position in essentially unequal conditions, except for the case when such treatment or creation of conditions serves public order and the goal defined by law to protect morals has an objective and reasonable justification and is necessary in a democratic society, and the means used are proportionate to achieve such goal;

Indirect discrimination implies the use of a provision, criterion, or practice that is neutral in form and discriminatory in essence to achieve the same result. (Law of Georgia "On Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination")

It is prohibited to treat any person in any negative way and to influence him because he has submitted a statement or complaint to the relevant authority or cooperated with it. (Law of Georgia "On Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination")

Discrimination on the basis of race, skin color, gender, origin, ethnic affiliation, language, religion, political or other views, social affiliation, property or rank status, place of residence (Georgia Constitution), age, faith, national or ethnic affiliation, profession is prohibited, regardless of marital status, health status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, political or other views, or other signs (Georgia's Law on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination)

contact us if you found yourself in an unequal/disadvantaged situation at the university due to discrimination on any of these grounds.
